Recognized by Playback as one of Canada’s "10 to Watch," Renuka is a versatile screenwriter originally from Kitimat, BC. Transitioning from finance to storytelling in 2020, she swiftly made her mark with credits on notable productions like "I WOKE UP A VAMPIRE" (Netflix/Family Channel), "REGINALD THE VAMPIRE" (SyFy), and "ALLEGIANCE" (CBC).

Beyond her on-screen achievements, she has contributed to various TV projects in collaboration with CBC, Bell Media, and Corus Entertainment. She has multiple projects on her development slate, including an original comedy series backed by the CMF and Bell Media and a horror series based on the works of American novelist Ray Garton.

As a member of the Indo-Fijian diaspora, a minority within a minority, Renuka's work inherently challenges fixed identities. Themes of belonging and being an outsider, familial duty, and self-fulfillment often weave themselves into her stories. Notably, her dramedy pilot "Brown Girl Town," which draws from her teen experiences, explores navigating cultural identity. It was selected as the WGC's Script of the Month.

She is an alumna of the Pacific Screenwriting Program's Scripted (PSP) Series Lab and the BIPOC TV & Film Showrunner Training Bootcamp, and stands as the sole BC writer chosen for the 2023 cohort of the WBD Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program. Represented by the Jennifer Hollyer Agency, Renuka actively gives back to her screenwriting community, serving as a PSP board member.

She is grateful to reside on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
