Recognized by Playback as one of Canada’s "10 to Watch," Renuka is an award-winning screenwriter from Kitimat, BC. Since transitioning from finance to storytelling in 2020, she's earned credits on credits on notable productions like "I WOKE UP A VAMPIRE" (Netflix), "REGINALD THE VAMPIRE" (Amazon), "ALLEGIANCE" (CBC) and "CREW GIRL" (Netflix).

Beyond produced credits, Renuka has developed series with CBC, Bell Media, and Corus Entertainment. SHer current slate includes an original comedy backed by the Canada Media Fund and Bell Media, and a horror series inspired by the work of the late American novelist Ray Garton.

As a member of the Indo-Fijian diaspora, Renuka's work inherently challenges fixed identities. Themes of belonging and being an outsider, familial duty, and self-fulfillment often weave themselves into her stories.

Notably, her dramedy pilot BROWN GIRL TOWN, inspired by her teenage experiences, explores the complexities of navigating cultural identity. It was selected as the Writers Guild of Canada's Script of the Month. Most recently, Renuka and her sister co-wrote the horror short PETTICOAT, winner of the Tasveer Film Festival Short Film Fund. Together, they run In Good Hands Media, a creative production company.

Renuka is an alumna of the Pacific Screenwriting Program’s Scripted Series Lab and the BIPOC TV & Film Showrunner Training Bootcamp, and was the sole BC writer selected for the 2023 WBD Access × Canadian Academy Writers Program. She is represented by the Jennifer Hollyer Agency and mentors with the Black Screen Office.

She is grateful to reside on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
